Updating Database Model

New changes

Since last friday, we were finally able to put the new code in production. We hope this new change (followed with others) will help to keep PookMail running with a decent time response.

We know that a lot of users blamed us. Please accept our apologies but unfortunatelly we can not provide a better support .. we are not a Internet Big Company nor a little startup, notice we have our own jobs in other company.

We did PookMail just for fun and we will continue playing with it as we did for 4 years, but unfortunatelly we don't have 48h per day in our lives :)

Our connectivity trouble with our ISP have ended. Thank you for waiting.

ISP Connectivity problems

During all the day you probably couldn't access to PookMail. Finally we got news from our ISP who just told yo us that the connectivity should be restored after 19.00h GMT+1.

Goodbye Ruby ... Welcome Perl!

Since last week Crysys and I we were analyzing all the problems reported by you.

This analysis showed that the new server we bought couple of weeks ago just put more problems over the table. In short, the backend scripts cannot support the ammount of traffic sent by the new server.

With the current backend hardware the only solution that we have is to port the current scripts from Ruby to Perl and try also to simplify them. During last weekend i made this job and my first goal was to have them working at least 24 hours without problems.

Today we reach 34 hours working without problems! But before commit the new scripts scripts into our mercurial repository i rather make some cosmetic changes and add some traces.

I would like to let you know that we will keep PookMail under stronger surveillance the next incoming weeks in order to be sure that the service is stable.

Finally, I would like to give thanks to everybody who spent their time just sending their suggestions, comments and errors reports. That was very appreciated by us.

New Server Installed

Thanks for the ads support we were able to buy a new server to PookMail!

At 14.30 (GMT+1) the new server was installed and configured successfully. With this new one all the problems reported by you during the last weeks were finally solved.

We are very happy to be up and running again and giving the best service that we can to you.

Ads in PookMail

Since last Friday we have put AdSense in PookMail in order to help us to mantain the service online.

From 3 years we tried to avoid using Ads to monetize PookMail but unfortunately things haven't gone very well for us.

New features availables

After dealing with all our traffic and hardware problems, we are proud to announce that finally we have realeased the most user requested features:

• Refresh Button: Placed at the left of the Logout link you find a new one called "Refresh", this allows you to refesh your screen in order to know if some email has just arrived, however PookMail will perform this automatically each 2 minutes.
• Replay Email: Some of you have show reported that some emails most be replied in order to activate some cool website account. Now you can do it! You will find this new feature at the left of Save link, included in each email.

We hope you will enjoy those new features and help found this tool more useful. Anyway if you have some new feature that you think it could be helpful to others please drop us an email or put it in the Comments section
